Olu Deniz Holidays – A stunning, world-class beach holiday destination

Consistently rated as one of the top five beaches in the world by travel journalists and travellers alike, the beach at Olu Deniz is stunning. Olu Deniz is the name of the small beach resort climbing the hillside overlooking a spectacular azure lagoon, the mouth of which is protected by a secluded spit of sand. The lagoon has been protected by the Turkish government from overdevelopment, who have declared it a national nature reserve, which means buildings in Olu Deniz can only be 2 stories high. Nowadays, ‘Olu Deniz’ is actually the blanket term for three small villages which are built consecutively, further up the hillside; Oludeniz itself, Ovacik (a slightly larger and busier town), and Hisaronu, which is where you will find the largest hotels and some nightclubs. Hisaronu and Ovacik are both to be found at the top of the hillside on the plateau, 2.5 miles away, thus ensuring Olu Deniz’ lagoon remains unspoilt.

Beach

An extraordinarily beautiful beach at Olu Deniz remains one of the finest beaches in Turkey and it’s a must for anyone looking for the perfect beach holiday retreat. With its turquoise lagoon boasting warm shallow waters, this protected National Park is ideal for relaxing sunbathing and swimming, and the stunning mountain backdrop only adds to the charm. It also provides a host of restaurants and bars so you can wine and dine as well as living the beach life!

Olu Deniz and Fethiye offer boat trips up and down the coastline, with popular trips including the 12 islands and the village of Gocek. Activities

Olu Deniz is extremely popular with parascenders, paragliders and hangliders, who come for the wonderful views, and the fantastic conditions created by the stable winds and gentle sea breezes. Take the challenge by leaping from the 1,950m peak of Mount Babadag and eventually landing on the pristine white beach of Olu Deniz.

If you enjoy walking or cycling, this is the ideal spot for it.  You could take the coastal paths or the marked trails that lead up into the mountains.  The villages of Hisaronu and Ovacik are very pretty and worth a visit.  There are also more extreme paths to follow that run through the canyons and forests.  There is some fantastic wildlife to be seen in this area.

Horse Riding

You can go on organised horse riding trips along the country tracks, and there are a few companies that can help you with this on a holiday in Olu Deniz.  Either choose a guided tour or ride a horse along the seafront!  This is a great way to enjoy the scenery, and great for a day out.
