Beach The beach at Akyaka is a strip of beautiful Turkish sand, perfect for a family holiday. The stretch of typically Turkish beach runs for quite some way, but is small enough to keep an eye on the kids who will love the run down the beach’s gentle sandy shelves into the cool sea. It has several restaurants and cafes who also own some of the sun loungers. Kofte Boats There are 3 parts to Akyaka: the town, the river and the beach. At the mouth of the river are some kofte boats. These boats sell sandwiches of either kofte, or fish in batter, which taste great and are very cheap. Water Sports The range of watersports available at Akyaka includes snorkelling, wind-surfing, pedalo rides and even canoeing. An ideal for a watersports holiday if you are more adventurous and like to get out in the water! As well as water sports, other activities on offer around the Akyaka area include hiking, horse-riding through the mountains, rafting and even paragliding. Village If you are looking for a relaxing holiday location that offers a real sense of escape, but without making you feel cut off from the world, then head for Akyaka – a traditional and unspoilt Turkish village with a low-key, peaceful feel, but also one with plenty to see and do. Eating Out The riverside restaurants at Antalya are famous. The delicious fresh fish served there might have something to do with that! So if you’re self-catering, do treat yourself at least once to an evening out at one of the lovely fish restaurants. And if a simple, light meal is all you fancy before taking an evening stroll with all the family, or hand-in-hand with the one you love, there are welcoming cafes backing on to the beach where a tasty bite can always be found. Mud Baths From Akyaka, the local resorts of Marmaris and Mugla are both well worth a visit during your stay, but no holiday in Akyaka is complete without a trip to the mud baths at nearby Dalyan. As well as being great for problems such as rheumatism, sciatica and gastric disorders, the tightening effect of the mud on the body is said to work wonders on your skin. |
